About Women in Academia Nigeria
This is a recognition and visibility campaign designed to acknowledge, recognize, and celebrate the remarkable achievements and significant contributions of women in higher education, research, and the broader academic community in Nigeria.
The campaign, while recognizing and celebrating these women, will also address systemic gender disparities, combat biases, and enhance the visibility and career progression of female academics, ultimately working towards a more equitable and inclusive academic environment.
Key Objectives
Increase Visibility:
To spotlight the works, research, and leadership roles of leading women academics, thereby ensuring that their accomplishments are not inadvertently overlooked.
Boost inspiration, motivation, and confidence:
To provide validation and esteem that can help women overcome barriers, such as self-doubt, and make them feel more empowered to pursue learning and leadership opportunities.
Promote role models:
To highlight successful women academics as role models for junior academics and students, thereby demonstrating that career advancements are attainable.
