Welcome to Women in Academia Nigeria Writing Competition

The national platform thus created by the Women in Academia Nigeria is meant to discover and build good writing talents, as participants are inspired and motivated while they research, study and write about the remarkable achievements and robust contributions of high-profile Nigerian female academics and savor the rare chance of relating and connecting with leading professionals and members of the academic community.

The writing competition is hosted by Hed-Core as a catalyst weaved around the visibility and awareness campaigns of the Women in Academia Nigeria project and implemented in such a way that it elicits academic preparations, encourages creative exploration, builds the confidence for expressing knowledge with impact and the robust opportunity to heighten scholarship through mentorship and peer support that are components of the Women in Academia Nigeria program.

What is WAN Essay Writing Competition

The Women in Academia Nigeria Essay Writing Competition is an annual fully online essay writing challenge that is open to female students across. The competition is backed and supported by several organizations and is accessible to secondary school, undergraduate and post graduate female students in Nigeria, and offers university-level challenge for practical application

How it Works

Register/Signup with Women In Academia Nigeria Recognition Campaign in accordance with current program circle and timelines
Pick a subject of your interest among those featured in the current recognition campaign and in accordance with the published writing prompts choose your track between writing a biological essay or a feature profile
Register to participate in the competition, and should you be eligible, an invitation will be sent to you.
Compete in the first round by writing and submitting your work in strict accordance with all program rules and guidelines.
The top ten essays per category will be invited to participate in the final round.
Get Recognized – Winners are announced, and their work is published on WAN and partners’ websites, they are endorsed and invited to earn a spotlight and awards presented to them at the grand WAN recognition event.
