1. Create Your Profile
  • Add your name, discipline, and academic interests.
  • Optional: include a short bio or institutional affiliation.
  • Profiles help others connect with you and understand your perspective.
2. Explore Categories
  • Visit the Categories Page to see forums organized by discipline, dialogue type, global perspective, and professional development.
  • Each category has a narrative description and suggested starter threads.
  • Choose areas that align with your expertise or curiosity.
3. Read the Guidelines & Charter
  • Review the Community Guidelines and Code of Conduct Charter to understand expectations.
  • These documents outline integrity, respect, inclusivity, and professional conduct.
  • Following them ensures a safe and productive environment for all.
4. Join a Discussion
  • Start by replying to an existing thread.
  • Use evidence, citations, and clear reasoning in your posts.
  • Ask clarifying questions to deepen dialogue.
  • Keep tone professional and respectful.
5. Start Your Own Thread
  • Use a descriptive title (e.g., “Challenges in Peer Review for Early Career Researchers”).
  • Provide context in your opening post — summarize the issue, share your perspective, and invite responses.
  • Format for readability: short paragraphs, bullet points, and citations.
6. Engage with the Community
  • Offer mentorship or guidance when possible.
  • Share resources (articles, toolkits, open‑access links) that benefit others.
  • Recognize and celebrate contributions from peers.
7. Progress Through Roles
  • Begin as a Participant and grow into a Contributor by posting regularly.
  • Volunteer for Working Groups or Advisory Councils to shape governance.
  • Trusted members may be nominated as Moderators.
  • Long‑standing contributors may be honored as Advisors/Emeritus.
8. Seek Support
  • Visit the FAQ and Support Page for technical help and common questions.
  • Contact moderators if you encounter issues or violations.
  • Participate in open forums or town halls to share feedback.
